NC FBLA State Parliamentarian

Hello, NC FBLA!

My name is Emma Godwin, and I am returning as your state parliamentarian! I am a senior at Wheatmore High School this year. I, as well as the rest of the officer team, are so excited for what we have planned this year. Be sure to check back regularly at our pages for any upcoming announcements.

State Officer Updates

Membership deadlines for SLC have passed. Be sure to keep attending meetings, and listening out for any important messages from your adviser regarding the State Leadership Conference. Be sure to send us pictures of anything your chapter does. It could make our page!

In early November, your state officer team had the opportunity to travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the National Fall Leadership Conference. We were able to see the sights of the city, network with people from the east coast and attend awesome workshops. One of my favorite workshops was from a speaker showing us how to keep meetings interesting. He suggested setting a five minute timer at the beginning of every meeting to allow members to catch up and talk about some non-FBLA things. This gives them a chance to bond about things other than the organization which will bring your chapter closer together. After the timer goes off, start the order of business for the day! Members will be refreshed, engaged, and excited for the meeting.

As your state parliamentarian, one of my responsibilities is to help teach user-friendly parliamentary procedure tips and tricks. Check back here each month for a new one! This month, I wanted to make everyone aware of the National Parliamentarian’s Council parliamentary procedure trivia. This is a fun way to learn more about parliamentary procedure and even test your knowledge! More information can be found at the national Instagram.

NCFBLA is so grateful for the opportunities we have had by hosting the Charlotte NFLC. It was so fulfilling to see so many of our members learning more about how to be a better leader. Thank you to all who made this happen.

As SLC is quickly approaching, it is important to be fully prepared for the trip and your competitive event. If you haven’t done so, finalize everything for your event. Be sure to practice, practice, and practice! Confidence is key in a competitive event. Be sure to bring blue jeans, closed toed shoes, and cash (at least a dollar!) for the Blue Jeans for Babies dance Tuesday night. Review the national FBLA dress code here. You will need to follow this dress code at workshops, general sessions, in your competitive events, and on stage during the awards of excellence. You don’t want to miss out on receiving your award due to your attire! Lastly, be sure to listen to your adviser and any announcements they have. This will be school specific, and is very important to be sure you know all that is going on. We can’t wait to see you in Greensboro!

Please remember these important dates:
